KAPS Touch ´n Go A-Card Talk about smart parking and we have it for you. KAPS has the only smart card in the region that can be used for car parking fees, Road Toll fees and Electronic Fare Collection for rail and bus commuting. This comes in one smart package – our Touch- ’n-Go A-Card. This credit-cardsized smartcard packs some powerful embedded microchip technology. The Touch and Go systems are designed to process up to 800 vehicles per hour to ease the queue congestion at toll plazas and if used together with our SmartTAG (a long-range tag for non-stop electronic toll collection systems), it is able to process up to 1,200 vehicles per hour. Information contained in this card can be read and written via electromagnetic induction using specified radio frequency and smartcard software; each time the card is used, the electronic card reader will deduct the exact fare from the value stored inside the card. The name Touch-‘n-Go tells us how to use the card. Just “touch” the card on the card reader using either side of the card. The system emits a “beep” sound as a quick indication that the transaction is successful. Visual instructions are also provided at most of our pay points. The automatic lane barrier, or flap gate as the case may be, will open quickly to allow you to continue with your journey. To enhance security and service, you will also receive an SMS every time the card is used, with details of the transaction. The Touch-’n-Go A-Card also allows you to access your statement via our online portal, which also audits and traces the card status. The KAPS Touch-’n Go A-Card card is currently in use as a mode of payment for all our parking services and Kenya Railways’ Nairobi Commuter Rail services, where fare collection is operated by KAPS. Acquiring a Touch-’n-Go A-Card from KAPS is quick and easy. All you need to do is fill in an application form at any of our sales counters or head office. The form is also available online.
