They met after school at Kansas ’ s house .
“ Ok , since we two are the only kids that are black in this school , we have to start small . There aren ’ t a hundred copies of us ,” Kansas said .
Brice thought really hard , and then he said , “ I guess that ’ s for the best . What should we start with doing ?”
She laughed , “ I got all that figured out . We could wait for the next project , which is called “ A 100 years ago ”, where we can write about how blacks contributed to U . S . A . in the civil war .”
Brice stared at her , openmouthed , “ That is GENIUS !! I could have NEVER thought of it ! We could write about something even earlier , like Harriett Tubman ! Then people will know how much blacks have contributed to this country !”
They high-fived and got started on their project .
