Sustainability, wellbeing, community, and regional development were not treated as separate themes, but as the interconnected parts of a broader conversation about how positive and lasting impact is created.
This semester, I also had the pleasure of supporting the People, Planet, Place Festival, where many of the same principles were evident throughout. Through a wide range of activities both on and off campus, the festival brought together students, staff, external partners, and members of the local community to explore some of the most important opportunities and challenges facing society today.

What stood out most was the way the festival encouraged participation and shared leadership. People from across the University and beyond were given opportunities to contribute their knowledge, experience, and ideas. The result was an inspiring programme that demonstrated what can happen when individuals and organisations work together towards a common purpose.
I am grateful to have played a part in both initiatives and to have worked alongside so many dedicated colleagues, students, and partners.
Looking back, both experiences shared the same essential truth: the most powerful force for change is not one individual or one organisation, but a community moving in the same direction.
