Earth Stories

A Student-Led Film Festival

By Holly Martella,
Marketing and Promotional Officer for Earth Stories Film Festival & BA Media Student
Earth Stories is an international, student-led, film festival, open to young filmmakers up to the age of 25. The festival presents new and inspirational stories addressing the climate crisis, nature’ s degradation, and highlights pathways for sustainable futures through human-nature reconnections.
The Earth Stories journey began in 2022, founded by alumni students Aaliyah Gibbings-Gardner and Charlie Beale, also supported by lecturer in media, James McAteer.
Since then, the festival has grown to include a number of students from different disciplines around Keele University, all working together to spread environmental awareness and foster creativity in new ways.
Katherine Chapman was this year’ s festival director, bringing us another year of excellent films. This role is soon to be taken over by Anushka Kabboor for the 2027 event, with the festival continually reaching out to aspiring students to take part and fill these emerging roles.
" With determination and belief, the Earth Stories team has continued to nurture the festival- inspiring many individuals around the world "
- Katherine Chapman.
