54 October 23-25 , 1974 , was in Kansas City at the Alameda Plaza Hotel . The theme was “ Keeping Pace with the Sun .” The Young Agents Committee held their first meeting and social session in conjunction with the conference .
55 October 15-17 , 1975 , was in Wichita at the Broadview Hotel . The theme was “ Aim High .” “ In the end , a man hits only what he aims at …” The kick-off lunch honored Jay Wanamaker . He was the second Kansan to be elected as president of the national association .
56 October 17-19 , 1976 , was in Topeka at the Ramada Inn . The theme was “ The Spirit of Independence .” The theme celebrated the independence of our Nation in 1776 .
57 October 30-November 1 , 1977 was in Wichita at the Hilton . The theme was “ Together ; We are Something !” The emphasis was on unity within the membership and the insurance industry .
58 October 8-10 , 1978 , was in Kansas City at the Alameda Plaza Hotel . The theme for the convention was “ Plain Truth ” ( Or Serious Considerations on the Present State of Kansas Insurance Industry ).
59 October 21-23 , 1979 , was in Topeka at the Ramada Inn . The theme was “ Getting the Jump on Competition .” One of the presentations was to prepare the agents for the challenges of completion in the 80s .
60 October 30-November 2 , 1980 was in Colorado Springs at the Broadmoor Hotel . It was the first outof-state convention . The theme was “ New Horizons .” Several afternoons were left open for tours and sightseeing .
61 October 18-21 , 1981 , was in Kansas City at the Alameda Plaza . The theme was “ Stepping into the Future .” Over 560 attended , making this the third-highest attendance in 61 years .
62 October 17-19 , 1982 , was in Kansas City at the Alameda Plaza . The theme was “ Circle Your Wagons .” Over 500 attended .
63 October 16-18 , 1983 , was in Kansas City at the Alameda Plaza . The theme was “ Follow the Yellow Brick Road .” While following the yellow brick road to educational rewards , you will also encounter fun and pleasure at the tennis courts , golf course , or socializing with other convention attendees .
64 October 14-16 , 1984 , was in Kansas City at the Hyatt Regency . The theme was “ Yes We Can .” The theme emphasized the importance of staying together and showing a united front when many adverse forces are at work to weaken our ability to operate as independent businesses .
65 October 20-22 , 1985 , was in Kansas City at the Alameda Plaza . Also available were tickets to the KU vs . K-State football game in Lawrence and the Kansas City Chiefs vs . Los Angeles Rams football game in Kansas City .
66 October 1986 was in Wichita at the Ramada Inn at Broadview Place . The theme was “ Capture Your Future .” Elected President Don Wasson was surprised during the inauguration of officers when the Wichita State Marching Band entered playing their theme song .
