The new building dedication and open house was on December 8 , 1989 . Topeka Mayor Doug Wright , Butch Felker , Insurance Commissioner Fletcher Bell , and National Executive Vice President Jeff Yates attended along with many members and company representatives .
• In July 1988 , Raymond Burr and the Vice President of Communications of the Independent Insurance Agents ’ Association ( IIAA ), visited Kansas and met with D . J . Sims , Gene West , and Larry Magill for a private lunch . They were here to promote National ’ s involvement of the Young Agents .
• PIA consolidations talk began in 1989 .
