• Angela Wallace – Angie was the Receptionist and administrative assistant for 18 years . She retired in 1995 to stay home and raise her two daughters . She started working for IIAK in 1977 after her high school graduation . She was the daughter in-law of James D . Wallace , executive director of the association . When Jim resigned in 1980 , she stayed on as Larry Magill ’ s administrative assistant until he left the association in 1995 . She resigned in 1995 to stay home and raise her two daughters .
• James D . Wallace - Jim was the executive director of the association from 1966-1980 . Jim was hired as the assistant executive manager in August 1966 . Upon Frank Dunkley ’ s resignation Jim was made executive director and continued as such until August 1980 . Jim resigned as executive director in May 1980 to take over the Big “ I ” association in California . Jim wrote an article for the magazine titled “ The Kansas Big “ I ” Success Story ”. It gave a review of the past 14 years of the association , 1966-1980 . He was formerly audit superintendent for the Kansas Inspection Bureau . He was with them for five years . He had a Bachelor of Business degree from Washburn University and Master of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University . He has received his CPCU and CLU designations . He held the Risk Management diploma of the Insurance Institute of America and the Institute of Organizational Management Certificate from Michigan State University . He was past president of the Kansas Chapter of CPCU . Jim was an underwriter and special agent for Kansas City Fire and Marine for over seven years . Jim worked closely to develop the study manual for the agent ’ s license examination . Jim died on August 9 , 1994 .
• M . Jay Wanamaker – Jay was president of the association in 1967 . Jay was elected national Big “ I ” President in 1975 . He was the second Kansan to receive this honor . Jay joined his brother Bill at the Wanamaker Agency in Topeka in 1950 . In 1964 , Jay and his brother , W . O . were honored by Connecticut General Life Insurance Company with the Award for Outstanding Service to Clients . The award was presented only to those independent insurance firms which maintained the highest professional standards . In 1968 he was named the Insurance Man of the Year by the Topeka Insurors . Jay received the Outstanding Agent Award in 1968 . Jay served as the state national director from 1968 to 1971 . In 1971 Jay was elected to the national Executive Committee where he served until 1977 . Jay graduated from the University of Kansas in 1934 . He served 2 ½ years as an Air Force Combat Intelligence Officer for World War II with time in Africa , Sicily , Italy and Southern France . He was discharged in 1945 with the rank of Major . Jay was a member of the reserves for 28 years and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel . In 1965 , Jay was appointed Chairman of the Heart Fund for Shawnee County . Jay died on June 9 , 2004 .
• Stephen J . Wanamaker – Steve was president of the association in 1986 . Steve was president of the Sargent-Wanamaker Insurance Agency in Topeka . He was elected treasurer of the association in 1990 . Steve graduated from the University of Kansas in 1969 with a degree in Business and Economics and in 1971 with a Master of Science in marketing . From 1971 to 1973 he was an officer in the Air Force and was stationed at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas , later he was stationed in Thailand for several months during the Vietnam War . He began his insurance career in 1974 as an underwriter of Northwestern National Company . In 1975 he joined his family firm , Wanamaker Insurance Agency of Topeka . He received his Chartered Property-Casualty Underwriter ( CPCU ) designation in 1978 and the Accredited Advisor in Insurance designation in 1984 . He is a past president of both the Independent Insurance Agents of Topeka and the Kansas Chapter of the Society of CPCUs .
• W . O . Wanamaker – W . O . was the first president of the Topeka Insurors in 1920 . He helped organize the Topeka local board and was a charter member of the group . Bill graduated from the University of Kansas in 1939 . He served two years in the European theater of Operations during World War II . After the war , he returned to and to the Wanamaker Agency . He served on the Legislation Committee in 1948 and was treasurer in 1963 and 1964 for KAIA . In March 1961 , he wrote an article for the American Agency Bulletin , the official publication of the National Association of Insurance Agents . In it he stressed the importance
