The first convention was held on December 15-17 , 1921 , in Wichita at the Hotel Lassen . That ’ s when the tentative organization , formed in December 1920 , was made permanent . A constitution and bylaws were adopted , state , and national issues were discussed , officers were elected , and committees formed . C . G . Blakely , Jr . stated : “ Best of all , friendships were made between Kansas agents in different towns that will securely cement the foundation on which our Association is built , that of upholding right principles and opposing bad practices in underwriting .”
“ What ’ s the Use of Belonging to a State Association ? It never does anything for me .”
Created by C . G . Blakely , Jr . in 1921 to promote membership . It was enclosed with a form , to pay $ 6.75 for state and national dues by September 1 , 1921 .
C . G . Blakely was the first secretary / treasurer of the association from 1921 to 1926 . He then served two terms as president in 1927 and 1928 .
