has been listed as one of only 216 agencies selected to the IIA & B of America ’ s Best Practices Agencies for several years running . Lyle graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bethany College .
• Dustin ( Dusty ) Davis – Dusty was president of the association in 2015 . Dusty has more than 16 years of experience in the insurance industry . He joined the ICI team in El Dorado in 1999 . With his election , he follows in the footsteps of his mentor and former boss , the late Tom Murry . Like Tom , Dusty has never shied away from giving back to the association . As the new president of the KAIA , he challenged members to get involved in the association . He first became involved with KAIA as chairman of the Young Agents Committee in 2002 . He has been chairman of the golf subcommittee , Trusted Choice / Communications committee , and the ASCK Board of Directors . He was elected to the Executive Committee in 2012 . Dusty was a graduate of the University of Kansas and has earned his CIC and CWCA designations . He is a graduate of the 2001 Class of Leadership . In the community he was involved in Tri-County CASA , El Dorado YMCA , United Way , and a Big Brothers and Big Sisters volunteer .
• William ( Bill ) A . Dearth – Bill was president of the association in 1974 . Bill attended Pittsburg state and the University of Kansas . He started in the insurance business in 1933 . In 1949 , he purchased the agency where he had worked and re-named it the Bill Dearth Agency of Parsons . The agency had been a member of the association since 1933 . Bill was Mayor of Parsons for eight years . He was on the Board of Directors for the Kansas State Chamber of Commerce . He received the Outstanding Agent Award in 1970 . He was a Kansas Senator from 1965-72 . In 1972 , he presented during the legislative session the “ Habitual Violator Bill ”. It was passed . This was one of the strongest highway safety measures to be passed by the Kansas Legislation . Bill was very instrumental in the Assigned Risk Plan . Bill died on August 18 , 1984 .
• Dan Deener – Dan was president of the association in 2007 . He was a partner in the United Agency in Arkansas City . He began his insurance career in 1972 with American Mutual Liability Insurance Company . He joined the United Agency in 1976 . One of the agencies in the family tree was owned by Fred Gould , the second president of the Kansas association . Kenneth Ross was president of the Kansas association in 1949 and went on to be president of the national association in 1957 . Steve Ross was president of the association in 1991 . Dan says he was truly humbled to walk in their footsteps . He was awarded the 2004 KIA / 1752 Agent of Merit Award . Dan says of the association : “ You always get more than you give ”. In 2011 , Dan was awarded the KAIA Distinguished Service Award .
• Robert Docking – Robert was Governor of Kansas from 1967 to 1975 . On March 19 , 1974 , he signed into law HB1715 . This was a major revision of the Kansas Workmen ’ s Compensation Act , which went into effective on July 1 , 1974 .
• Robert ( Bob ) Dole – Bob was a Republican Senator from Kansas . In 1995 at the National Legislative Conference , as Senate Majority Leader and presidential front-runner , Senator Dole addressed the attendees in regard to the strong support he had for the state ’ s rights during his speech . He stated : “ He would not support financial services reform legislation that would dilute the state ’ s authority to regulate the business of insurance , including bank-insurance sales .” It was considered the highlight of the conference .
• Carol Dulle – Carol was hired as the chief executive officer on May 15 , 2010 . She came from the Missouri association with over 20 years of operations experience . She was on the national association co-branded website committee . Carol resigned in the Fall of 2010 .
• Frank Dunkley – Was hired on January 1 , 1953 as the second executive manager of the association . Frank retired in 1968 as the executive vice president . In 1966 he was promoted to executive vice president . He was with the association for 15 years . Upon his retirement he was given an Honorary Life Membership . He came from Washington D . C . but was a native of Kansas . He graduated from the University of Kansas . Frank
