job . He states in an interview : “ The independent insurance agents across the country touch everyone ’ s life and they touch it with great care . I just can ’ t think of an organization that I would be prouder to be with ”. Raymond is well known for his roles as television ’ s Perry Mason and Police Chief Robert Ironside . On a personal side , Mr . Burr said that his insurance needs had been covered by an independent agent for over 30 years . He made several trips to Kansas , including a March 1985 and July 1988 visit to the Haas- Wilkerson Agency in Kansas City , along with the VP of communications from national , to meet for a private lunch to promote the Young Agents involvement in both the national and state associations .
• John Carlin – John was Governor of Kansas from 1979 to 1987 . On April 16 , 1982 Governor Carlin vetoed the Kansas Auto No-Fault law . In May 1982 he proclaimed May as Insurance Education Month . In May , Kansas Insurance Education Foundation sponsored an all-industry kick-off banquet in Topeka at the Ramada Inn . It was a great opportunity to advertise and promote your agency and educate the public on the insurance services you as an independent agent have to offer .
• Frank Carson – Frank was Governor of Kansas from 1947 to 1949 . Frank called for a statewide meeting in Topeka on June 27 , 1949 . It was called the Traffic Safety Conference . All insurance organizations were invited to attend . The association was represented by Executive Committee Member , Cheney Prouty . Frank was awarded an Honorary Life Membership in 1949 .
• Alex H . Case – Alex was president of the association in 1939 . He was from Marion , Case & Sons Agency . The agency was founded in 1868 . He served as national councilor in 1940 and 1941 . Alex was the son of former President Rosse Case . Alex volunteered for service on April 7 , 1917 just after the declaration of war and returned in May of 1919 . During the Battle of Verdun he was captured and held prisoner for six weeks . He spent six weeks in the hospital in France after his release recovering from his experience . The Germans were retreating and forced captives to load supplies to be taken to Germany . In 1937 Alex was appointed by national association as the regional chair of the Rural Agents committee . Case & Son Agency was accepted as synonymous with correct farm underwriting practices . National said agents in the western territory are assured of a team that will be of utmost service to them .
• Rosse Case – Rosse was a Founding Fathers of the Kansas Association . Rosse was on the Executive Committee in 1926 . He was president of the association in 1932 . Rosse was from Marion , Case & Sons Agency . He joined the agency in 1893 . The agency was founded by his father , Alex E . Case in 1868 . Rosse was made an honorary life member of the association in 1931 . R . W . Forshay , Chairman of the Rural Agents National Committee , bestowed upon Rosse the title of “ Dean of all Rural Agents ”. Rosse served on the national association Agriculture Committee of the National Fire Waste Council . In his year as president he arranged a nationwide Christmas party for all the state association presidents . At an appointed hour , each member would drink a toast and speak a Yuletide verse that had been sent to them . The tradition was carried on for several years . In 1936 his toast was : “ The heart of a friend is the one thing I prize . As life lengthens and twilight descends : It ’ s the last boon I ’ ll ask when I ’ ve finished my task that I live in the heart of my friends ”. He was joined by his son , Alex H . who was president of the association in 1939 . Rosse died on May 13 , 1941 at the age of 69 . He was considered the “ Grand Old Man ” of the Kansas Association of Insurance Agents . Rosse gave a talk on farm insurance at the convention in 1924 . The speech was so popular that it was printed and distributed to the entire membership .
• Dale Chaffin – Dale was president of the association in 2006 . He is a partner of Insurance Planning , Inc . in Hays . He stated in his first President ’ s Page , that the strength of any organization is determined by the members and level of participation by those members in activities through the year . Dale graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1974 with a Bachelor ’ s of Science in Business . He taught and coached at Hays High School until 1984 . He then joined Insurance Planning , Inc . and was a specialist in commercial lines
