firm to help the poor as well to get justice, and I hope to continue with
abolition [of the death penalty] campaigns until we live in a world
without death penalty.
I’m also passionate about helping children of prisoners; they are the
innocent victims of Justice... I intend to reach out to these forgotten
angels because they need to be protected. When their parents go to
prison, some of them end up in prostitution, some of them are victims
of child sacrifice in Africa, others are subjected to child labour, and
others are exposed to human trafficking because there is no one who
protects them! Others end up on the streets, becoming homeless
children – they have no shelter, they have no food, they don’t go to
school... Others are sexually abused by the people who pretend to
take care of them when their parents are imprisoned. Others end up
committing crime and hence finding their parents in prison, which
doesn’t break the cycle of crime.
So, I want to help the children, and I want to address that plight because
the prosecuting agencies don’t care once the parents are taken to prison.
I also plan to help women who are being released after so many years
in prison, helping them to better reintegrate society as responsible
mothers and citizens, and also to continue to fight for the rights of the
women, the children, and the prisoners.
In the future, I hope to start up a Trust firm: I want to help the people who
do not know how to invest their small earnings, because usually, we
have a culture in which when the husband dies, the relatives take over
the property and the widow and the children are left with nothing!
These are things that really touch my heart.
As far as studying is concerned, I am going to do a course, which
is going to be one year, and then I want to get a master’s degree
as well. //
JT: ¿Qué planea para el futuro?
SK: Bueno, junto con African Prisons Project, porque yo trabajo
con ellos... De verdad me están entrenando, porque tengo una
visión y metas que perseguir en el futuro. Inicialmente, existe
un plan de African Prisons Project para establecer un estudio de
Abogados donde ex–reclusos – que han estudiado Derecho en
prisión – puedan trabajar junto a otros expertos legales y tratar de
ayudar a rendir justicia a un costo menor para los marginados.Pero,
personalmente, tengo la intención de abrir una firma de abogados
para ayudar a los pobres a obtener justicia y espero continuar con
las campañas de abolición hasta que vivamos en un mundo sin
la pena de muerte.
También me apasiona ayudar a los niños de prisioneros; ellos
son las víctimas inocentes de la Justicia... Tengo la intención de
llegar a estos ángeles olvidados porque necesitan ser protegidos.
Cuando sus padres van a la cárcel, algunos de ellos terminan
en la prostitución, algunos de ellos son víctimas del sacrificio
de niños en África, otros están sometidos al trabajo infantil y
otros están expuestos a la trata de personas porque no hay nadie
que los proteja. Otros terminan en las calles, convirtiéndose en
niños sin hogar – no tienen refugio, no tienen comida, no van a la
escuela... Otros son abusados sexualmente por las personas que
pretenden cuidar de ellos cuando sus padres están encarcelados.
Otros terminan cometiendo delitos y encontrando a sus padres
en la cárcel, lo cual no rompe el ciclo de la delincuencia. Por lo
tanto, quiero ayudar a los niños, y quiero abordar esa situación
porque las agencias de procesamiento no se preocupan una vez
que los padres son llevados a la cárcel.
También planeo ayudar a las mujeres que están siendo liberadas
después de tantos años de prisión, ayudándoles a reintegrarse
mejor a la sociedad como madres y ciudadanas responsables, y
también a seguir luchando por los derechos de las mujeres, los
niños y los prisioneros.
En el futuro, espero poner en marcha una empresa de Fideicomiso:
Quiero ayudar a las personas que no saben invertir sus pequeñas
ganancias, porque, por lo general, tenemos una cultura en la que
cuando el marido muere, los familiares asumen la propiedad y la
viuda y los hijos quedan sin nada. Estas son cosas que realmente
tocan mi corazón. En lo que respecta a mis estudios, voy a hacer
un curso que durará un año, y luego quiero también obtener un
título de maestría. //
