Old Business:
Rulebook: Annie Mickelson Absent. Nothing to report.
Safety Committee: Corey Swartout Absent. Nothing to report.
Scholarship: Julie Gintner Julie expects to start getting more applications in, with the deadline coming up May 1.
Stalls: Tim Wamplfer
Absent. A request for stall rental was received by Liz, from Mindy Price with Mon Cheval Stables, in Cannon Falls, MN. The facility would like to rent up to 50 stalls from WSCA for dressage shows at their grounds May 23-24, July 18-19 and October 17-18. It was discussed that these dates do not conflict with WSCA’ s use and depending on how many stalls WSCA requires for champ show, Mon Cheval would be able to hold onto them until their last show in October. It was discussed that the renter is responsible for picking up stalls. Blake at Simon’ s Arena will act as the contractor for loading the panels from storage at Simon’ s and set up and return of the panels will be the renters responsibility. The renter will assume liability for the stalls from the time they leave Simon’ s to the time they are returned. James will give pricing and terms to Liz to share with Mon Cheval.
Minnco Credit Union- Lynn-Ellen, Mandy and Liz will need to go to Minnco Credit Union to get added as signers to Minnco Credit Union account.
Social Media Policy- Lynn-Ellen presented a draft Social Media Policy, for what is to be expected of WSCA board members, judges, employees, and members of the association, in terms of WSCA associated content on social media platforms. The board reviewed and noted a few areas where clarification was needed, as well as layout. Lynn-Ellen will make the updates according to recommendations by the board and re-distribute to the board with the hopes of voting on the policy at the May meeting. It was also recommended that the draft be shared with WSCA’ s attorney for review.
New Business:
Canterbury Park meeting space- Liz Bauer shared the rental cost WSCA incurs for each General meeting hosted in the Triple Crown Lounge at Canterbury Park in Shakopee. The cost of renting the room on March 1, 2026 from 11am to 4pm was $ 500 for room rental, $ 100 per mic( we used 2) and $ 50 for use of TVS. Liz feels that for the short amount of time we use the room, and the overall low attendance of the March general meeting, and cost for using the space, we should look into other options for future March 1 st meetings. Liz shared that there may be a Church hall, community center or other venue space that we may be available to work with for lower rental cost or even a donation. Lori Taylor shared that the Chaska VFW has been used in the past for general meetings and last checked rental space was approximately $ 250. The board members agreed that a change in location for the March general meetings is needed and will explore other options.
With no further new business, a motion was made by James Duenow, seconded by Lori Taylor to adjourn the April 1, 2026 Board of Directors meeting at 8:11 pm. Motion passed unanimously.
A closed session meeting was called to order by President Lynn-Ellen St. Martin at 8:13 pm.
