WSCA Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

The current court shared on events they have attended. This included attending saddle club banquets. The court participated in a polar plunge and raised over $ 700 for Special Olympics. They are hoping to attend a Rodeo in Fargo. Getting reading for the Royalty Clinic and Horse Expo. The Royalty fundraiser show will be held June 7 th at Northwest Arena. The court also attended Skijoring event at Canterbury, where current Ms. Games Bella Witucki participated with past Ms. Games Courtney Betsch.
Royalty: Bridget Behrns
The Royalty Clinic will be Sunday April 6 th at the Nordick Brew Pub in Monticello, MN. Rachel created and shared the flyer on Facebook. The Royalty contest awards and incentives will be shared on Facebook and put in the Spotlight. The forms will need to be updated on the website, and dates of events updated On Deck.
Rulebook: Cindy Ladd
Cindy asked the Board to reconsider the cost increase of mailing a rulebook, which was motioned and approved to increase the cost of mailing a rulebook to $ 10 at the February Board meeting. Feedback from the Board included that the cost increase of mailing encourages people to pick up in person at a meeting, and it maintains the value of the rulebook. The Board also feels the increase was discussed in great length at the last meeting. Motion passed at the February meeting remains in place.
Safety Committee: Corey Swartout Absent. Nothing to report.
Scholarship: Julie Gintner Julie presented the 2025 Scholarship Committee budget for Board approval.
Motion was made by James Duenow, seconded by Lori Taylor, to approve the 2025 Scholarship Committee budget as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Scholarship applications are due May 1 st, and the forms are online and in the spotlight. Stalls: Tim Wamplfer
Tim has been reviewing panels and checking the stall pins and looking at what needs repair / replacement, and what will be needed for Simon’ s arena. Tim will need to purchase new banding material for when the stalls are taken down from Simon’ s.
-The Horse Protection Act- Lynn has reached out to the USDA contact and has not heard back from them. Right now, everyone has to plan as if this is going forward.
-2025 Royalty Banquet- Julia presented the 2025 Awards Banquet budget for Board approval.
Motion made by Lori Taylor, seconded by Dustin Heck, to approve the 2025 Awards Banquet budget as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
It was noted that now that the Awards Banquet has been reactivated, the committee’ s report should be conducted during the other committee reports. Liz will make this change to the agenda going forward.
-MN Horse Expo- The Expo has asked if WSCA would offer WSCA games demo, including barrels, poles, jumping figure 8 and rescue race. This would run on Sunday, April 27 th from 1:10pm to 3:10pm. Lynn has been reaching out to individuals to participate.
