Just in Time for Baseball Season... from RJ Chesney
Now based in Los Angeles, RJ Chesney ' s music reflects where he grew up- the Deep South, so that country, blues, gospel, and folk inspire his songs. Recent tours in Europe, Canada, and Hawaii prepared his fans to look ahead to his next disc, set to be released this fall.
As for Afraid of the Ball, RJ says the song is very personal to him:
" This song grew out of a real life experience for me. It’ s a message about triumph over trauma. An experience in childhood stopped me from playing baseball, but never took away my love of the game and my ability to dream. Writing this song after years of wrestling with one of the most painful memories of my life gave me the chance to highlight the resilient spirit that could not be taken away from me, and hopefully inspire some kid out there who might be getting bullied... to let them know it ' s going to be okay."
