IMPACT Awards at the Glenview Park District recognize innovative, creative and entrepreneurial projects that result in any combination of increased revenues, decreased costs, improved efficiency, improved customer satisfaction and process improvements. Staff are encouraged to nominate projects for this annual award, with the leadership team and the Park Board of Commissioners determining the finalists and ultimate winner.
The new hearing loop that was installed in the Lakeview Room at the East Wing Glenview Senior Center last spring is the winner of this year’ s IMPACT Awards at the Glenview Park District. The hearing loop enhances the auditory experience for individuals with hearing loss by magnetically transmitting the sounds from microphones to telecoil-enabled hearing aids and cochlear implants, delivering a customized, crystal-clear listening experience. The hearing loop has significantly enhanced East Wing programs such as Monday BINGO, holiday luncheons, educational sessions and live entertainment by making them more accessible for our community. The hearing loop is also used by guests renting the Lakeview Room for private events.
Following the installation of the hearing loop an informational session was held to educate the community on the benefits of this new technology. A licensed audiologist explained the hearing loop and assisted users with activating their telecoil setting, with approximately 50 community members in attendance.
Congratulations to staff members Tim Beckmann, Angel Olan, Jack Scherer, Janet Steinberg, and Amy Watson on their IMPACT award!
