Arts Association

By CATHI MCLAIN

We invite art enthusiasts to join our board

Back when I was working in marketing and public relations, we had a mantra:“ Tell‘ em what you’ re going to tell‘ em. Tell‘ em. Then tell‘ em
MCLAIN what you told‘ em.” This rule holds true for teachers, TV commercials and. yes, my articles in The Villager. With so many projects in the pipeline, we want to be sure our messages resonate with Charbonneau residents, so if last month’ s article was missed, you’ ll get the info this month and next, with perhaps something new added to the list.
CAA Board of Directors
First and foremost, we have a
renewed request for arts enthusiasts who might want to join our board to help us realize our many ambitions going forward. You don’ t have to be an artist, just someone with a willingness to dig in for more than just the weekend of the festivals and bring your talents to bear in organization, finance, computers or general management. Please contact me at cathi @ mclainco. com if you’ d like to hear more about joining in the fun.
Wilsonville Music Festival
And speaking of fun, here we go again, ready or not, and remember that all the details and online ticket sales are available on our website, at www. charbonneauarts. org.
Alice Galloway and her team are busy planning all the details for“ Blues for Schools,” the Wilsonville Music Festival @ Charbonneau, Aug. 2-3. The event will feature Ben Rice and PDX Hustle Saturday night, Aug. 2 at 7:30 p. m.. The lineup for Sunday, starting at noon, includes Low Maintenance, Noah Bell & The Bottle Neck Blues Band; Taylor Newville & the
Riders, Chad Rupp & TSR, The Bon Ton Rulers and The Revival Brothers Band, an Allman Brothers Tribute band. KOIN’ s Ken Boddie will be the MC on Sunday.
The festival will take place on two stages – the Pavilion outdoor stage and the indoor Clubhouse main stage with professional staging, audio and lighting. Tickets are $ 20 for Saturday night and $ 40 for all-day Sunday. There will be reduced ticket prices for students and tickets will be free for children under 12. Purchase tickets online and at the Charbonneau Activity Center.
Sunday’ s event will also include booths featuring seven vendors from last year’ s festival of the arts, merchandise and artists’ CDs, food carts, the Market Café bar and room to dance.
We couldn’ t begin to mount this ambitious project without the support from the city of Wilsonville’ s Arts, Heritage & Culture Commission, and from generous sponsors and donors. Sponsorship details are available on our website. Sponsors to date include the Wilsonville Chamber
of Commerce, Rachel Nelson for Edward Jones, and Allegra Atkinson with an individual gift of $ 1,000. In-kind contributors include Sound Guy Productions, who will provide over $ 3,000 in discounts for staging, sound and lighting; and Cedar House Media, providing discounts on printing of signs, banners and programs.
Profit from“ Blues for Schools” will go to Canby High School and Wilsonville High School Performing Arts Programs. For more information, please contact Festival Coordinator Alice Galloway at gallowaynw @ gmail. com.
Most Charbonneau residents have enjoyed attending our annual Festival of the Arts, and this year will be our 41st annual“ Arts with Flair,” renamed Wilsonville Festival of the Arts @ Charbonneau, Oct. 10-12. The event opens with the Opening Night Gala Reception on Friday evening, featuring the fundraising silent auction, food and wine, the Artisan Booth Show, Fine Art Gallery, Student Gallery and
