AN INCREDIBLE ODYSSEY- TOYS FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Despite differing estimates , about 4-8 % of the population in India are differently abled . One in every 10 children is a child with special needs . These translate into 40-90 million children , which is a substantial number . Only 35.29 % of children with different abilities have access to schools . Infact till a decade ago there was very little which was being done for the children with special needs . Differently abled children were subject to multiple deprivations and limited opportunities in several dimensions of their lives .

Despite improvement in the health care system in the country , the situation of differently abled children still needs a lot of focus . Therefore , it is commendable and noteworthy to mention the journey of Edcraft - 25years back , when even the awareness for children with special needs was very limited .
