THREE CHEERS FOR OUR #GlenviewGOATS In sports lingo, someone who is at the top of their game is often referred to as a GOAT, which stands for Greatest of All Time. But in Glenview lingo, a #GlenviewGOAT can be anyone who is an essential or front-line worker risking their health to perform their jobs and those who are finding ways to make a positive impact on our lives right now. #GlenviewGOATs have been out in our community every day during the COVID-19 crisis doing what needs to be done to keep us and our friends and neighbors safe. In May, the Park District asked you to join us on Facebook and Instagram to recognize the heroes in our community. Malachy "Mal" Mulvihill’s nomination received the most likes and comments and he received a dinner for four from Coarse Italian. We thank all of our #GlenviewGOATS for making a difference in both small ways and big, for being on the front lines of this fight and behind the scenes. You are an inspiration to us all and we’d like to share their nominations with you! Katie Nicolau, nominated by Brian Montgomery Katie is a long-time Glenview resident working as an ICU nurse at a local hospital. In response to COVID-19, Katie has contributed to caring for patients in the ICU and offering her skills to help in any way possible. As a front-line health care worker, Katie Nicolau has made a positive impact in our community and is a #GlenviewGOAT. Sasha Vassilyeva, nominated by Nick Moran I chose to nominate Sasha because of her commitment to public health. It's hard enough being an essential health professional, nonetheless a college student living on her own. Sasha's dedication to her work is inspiring and I'm incredibly proud of her! Martha Demko, nominated by Denise Blinick Martha Demko, a member of the East Wing Glenview Senior Center is in charge of charity crafts in the craft room. She makes the teddy bears that go to the ER’s of local hospitals. During the pandemic, Martha started making masks for senior homes, neighbors and anyone who didn’t have one. She donated everything she made out of the goodness of her heart. Martha is extra special because she turned 98 on Valentine’s Day this year!!! If you met her, you would never think she is 98. She is one great GOAT! Glenview Virtual Garage sale admin nominated by Vilija Janus I nominate this person who endlessly doing runs for people in need and is Glenview Virtual Garage sale admin!
