Bavaria Netball
The story of the season
After a debut season in the Second Division that saw the Pinks win 14 games without defeat to take the league title, the 2018/19 season in the First Division was going to be significantly different.

34-35 in a game that was a great advert for local netball. The performance showed how far the team had come over the space of a few months since the start of the league. This game marked the end of the first round of fixtures with the league splitting into the top 4 made up of Bavaria, Soho Magic, Elite GJBS and Marble Arc.
In February, the Gibraltar senior national team travelled to Hong Kong to compete in the Four Nations Tournament. Megan Martinez, Holly Greig, Claire Nuñez and Amy Valverde received call-ups and deservingly so after a brilliant start to the season. For Amy, this was her first senior call-up to the squad. It was a successful tournament for the Campions who finished in a respectable 3rd place with two memorable wins against Thailand. A country that has a population of over 69 million people!

The league games that followed after the international break were evenly contested, with Bavaria marginally losing out to “would be” champions Marble Arc on both occasions. A defeat to Soho Magic was the turning point of our season. After being comfortably in the lead in the first quarter, a serious knee injury to Claire Nuñez turned the balance with the Pinks continuing the game with only 6 players. The weeks that followed were illness and injury stricken with goalkeeper, Stephanie Kassam also fracturing her elbow and missing the rest of the season. A respectable 4th placed finish was earned with the squad pushed to the limit in the final weeks

2018/19 has been a brilliant start to life in the First Division. The Pinks will be looking to push on next season having pushed the top and most experienced teams to the limit on multiple occasions. We would like to thank all our Pink ladies for their hard work, dedication and commitment over the course of this season.
