We visited the Eastern Townships Vintage Automobile Club car show
in North Hatley this weekend, where we met up with Eric Smith of
Stanstead, who produces Bag Balm–a salve invented in 1899 with
multiple uses for animals and people alike. This was the 40th edition

NAOMI JERVIS-READ
A short while ago, it was
brought to this reporter’s atten-
tion that there was a special lady
volunteering at the Sawyerville
Elementary School. This lady is
Naomi Jervis-Read, age 96, from
the Sawyerville area. We went to
the school on Monday morning to
see this lady and talk to her for
a while. We pulled into the yard
and there was her little red car,
and she was sitting in it. She was
happy to see us and was sur-
prised to find out she was the
reason we were there.
We sat down with her in the
staff room and did a small inter-
view. Jervis-Read told us that in
her younger years, she had
taught for 23 years at Eastern
Townships Schools and also
seven years at King’s Hall. After
she finished her teaching career,
