Around The Region
to check out. Capt. Beauleau
grew up in the area and loves
coming back to see old friends
and family whenever he can.
This Faucheures de Margue-
rites aircraft club is one of the
very few fly-ins in Canada that
the aircraft are judged for
appearance, like a car show and
shine–only they fly in the clouds
instead of cruising down the
road. The Chronicle walked
around chatting with all for
about a hour and learned a lot
about planes. The sun was shin-
ing and the weather clear the
perfect mixture for a perfect fly-
in. Mark Pezzi told us that this
fly-in brings pilots and their
families together for a weekend
of fun, food and friendship every
year about this time.
The event started Saturday
morning and lasted until Sunday
afternoon with hundreds coming
through the gates and checking
out the aircraft both big and
small. The hangar was filled with
aircraft and all sorts of airplane
equipment to include radios,
flight clothing, and GPS equip-
ment. It was a super way to
spend time with family and loved
ones under sunny skies.

DAVE GORDON
AND CHARLIE MCCOY
Thursday evening, Centennial
Theater at Bishop’s University in
Lennoxville came to life with the
country music sounds of Dave
Gordon and Country Music Hall-
of-Famer Charlie McCoy and his
six-piece band for an evening of
fun. The action all kicked off at 8
p.m. with Dave Gordon hitting
the stage to a explosion of
applause. Dave then jumped
right into a song with many of the
musicians he got his start with
many years ago sitting in the
audience, to include Rodney
Bray, Ron Haseltine, Terry How-
ell, Steve Aulis, Ross Roach, Mur-
ray Ward, Arnold Winget, Willie
Fisk and many others that he has
played with over his many years
in the music scene. Dave sure
livened up the place with his
high-energy style of music. After
Dave was done, it was time for
Nashville Country Music Hall-of-
Famer Charlie McCoy to burst
onto the stage in front of over 300
fans. Charlie whipped out his
harmonica and started to play
like only Charlie can. He is a
world class harmonica player and
entertainer for sure–he can sure
make his harmonica talk. Charlie
is also full to the brim of stories
from his days on “Hee-Haw”
many years ago. After the mid
break, Dave Gordon and Charlie
McCoy both hit the stage
together and the party started,
much to the delight of all.
Dave Gordon grew up in Len-
noxville and graduated from
Bishop’s University many years
ago before leaving the Eastern
Townships to pursue a career in
Ontario. Now Dave has come
back playing his music for all to
enjoy. This performance was his
first in 20 years and went smooth
as silk, to the pure delight of
hundreds of fans from the area.
This was a high-energy show
filled with humor and good old
country music.

SHERBROOKE FLY-IN
Saturday, small and not so
small aircraft filled the air
around the Sherbrooke Airport
as the Faucheurs de Marguerites
Aircraft Club held their 23rd
annual fly-in. We arrived at the
Sherbrooke Airport to be greeted
by Mark Pezzi, Vice President of
the event. He was telling us that
this is the largest fly-in event in
eastern Canada and also the
longest running fly-in. Pezzi also
told us that last year the event
welcomed close to 180 aircraft–
and this year they were expect-
ing maybe more depending on
weather.
These aircraft are mostly
home built and come from all
over Quebec and Ontario, among
other locations. Capt. Denis
Beauleau of the Royal 425th
Squadron was on hand with a
F-18 fighter for all young and old
The 23rd annual Faucheurs de Marguerites Fly-In in Sherbrook took
place from June 17-18, and is always full of high-flying sights. Corey
