The hot Afghan sun beats down
on the ACP team as they grind to complete
the setup of the shelter and its assemblages to standard. Sweat drips off the
brow of SPC Audra Boss as she works
diligently to acquire radio communications
through the ACP shelter. SPC Michael
Lawlar, PFC Benjamin Schoenfeld, and
PFC Johnathon Tiller drudge through
grounding procedures and the tedious
tasks associated with STT setup and satellite lock. SPC Jacobe Jones and PFC Kyra
Studevan meticulously create the TOC to
house the equipment necessary to support
up to 20 members of the “Climb to Glory”
10th Mountain Division (LI) staff.

The team, so kindly, refers to the
ACP as the “Franken-Shelter”. It is a hybridtype entity fine-tuned by the ever so animated CW3 Timothy Caton. More specifically, the Assault Combat Platform (ACP) is
an air lift transportable shelter utilized with a
Satellite Transportable Terminal (STT). The
“Franken-Shelter” is designed to support a
20 person Division cell via Blue Force
Tracker (BFT), Command Post of the Future
(CPOF), Single Channel TACSAT Radios,
SINCGAR Radios, VoIP Phones, and user
laptops on all enclaves—NIPR, SIPR, and
CX-I.
The ACP team’s mission is to
deploy and have fully functioning communications within 96 hours of notice. Utilizing all
