“Winning Soldier of the month was a challenging experience for me. All the studying I had done finally paid off in a big way. Going through the company mock board I was extremely nervous as I had never been to any kind of board before. That gave me a little more confidence going in to the company diamond sharp board. Soldier of the Month Board was a great learning experience for me. As I continue to improve and keep developing my leadership skills, I will be able to become a more competent leader. This will enable me to be a more efficient leader when I reach my goal of joining the Non Commissioned Officer ranks in the near future. I have learned a lot about self improvement in this deployment. Studying for this board has showed me that hard work and dedication pay off in the end. At first it seemed like a daunting task, retaining that much information but as the study sessions went along I started to retain more and more of it. Winning this board has showed me that self improvement is important to develop and hone your skills as a soldier and future leader. “ SSG Morales has giving me mentorship and guidance on not only my MOS but helping me improve on my weaknesses as well. He has showed me what it takes to be a leader of soldiers. The Division Signal Company has helped me grow as a person and a soldier. The company has always showed me support and are constantly pushing me to improve and develop the necessary skills I need for me to be able to lead soldiers. “ Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion Page 13
