“The TF Gauntlet Soldier of the Month board
was a great experience for me. I learned a lot
of new information about the Army and what it
takes to become a leader from all the long
days of studying. When I was first told that I
was going to the Soldier of the Month board I
thought it was a privilege just to be recognized
for such an honor but didn’t know what to expect since I’ve never been to a board before. I
had attended a mock board, which was good
practice for the actual board. On the day of the
board I was nervous all day because I was the
last one to go before the board. When it was
finally my turn I was a little uneasy but after I
started I relaxed and answered the questions
as best I could. After I was done I was confident in my performance and appreciated that I
could attend. Through the experience I gained
I now know what to expect for a promotion
board. I was honored that the board members
selected me as the Soldier of the Month, knowing how hard I studied and worked for this opportunity. I will use this experience to help better myself as a leader and assist my Soldiers
in preparing for future board opportunities. “
