Meeting Minutes
Marketing & Promotions : Rachel Duenow Got quite a bit of new collateral for MN Horse Expo . Getting a great response from Facebook for requesting photos to update the WSCA website . Some photographers contacted Rachel and have some new images for branding . Been working with Anthony the past couple of months on the new digital Spotlight . Also working on the layout of the new / updated website . Lori mentioned to Rachel to have handout provided at shows for information and a reminder for registering at champshow . org . Rached recommended getting a new backdrop and stands for MN Expo that can be passed on year to year . She will come back to the Board with estimates .
Ann mentioned that we have a statement regarding animal welfare in the Rule Book , and we should look into making more presence and awareness of that statement . While working on the new website , Rachel mentioned we can make it more visible . Also , we can ask clubs to post the animal welfare statement at the shows .
Nominating : Kevin Berger There are four seats up for election this year .
Procedures : Sandy Strube Presented the WSCA Outgoing Committee Chair / Volunteer Policy and noted changes . Motion made by Kevin Berger , seconded by Amber Duncanson to approve the recommended changes for the WSCA Outgoing Committee Chair / Volunteer Policy . Motion carried unanimously .
Presented the Vice-Chair wording in the WSCA Procedures with noted changes . Motion made by Kevin Berger , seconded by Steve Tibbetts to approve the recommended changes for the Vice Chair in the Procedures . Motion carried unanimously .
Publicity : Lori Taylor : Absent . The Royalty clinic was 2 weeks ago and went very well . A few days after the Royalty Clinic they packed up to get set up at the MN Horse Expo . Talked to members and potential new members . They had the Spotlight , WSCF showbill and the Royalty showbill available . In talking to approximately 150 people , only one of them had not received the electronic Spotlight . There was a western showcase , the court did not get to participate but did get free tickets to attend .
Royalty : Bridget Behrns The WSCA Royalty clinic had good attendance . The applications for the contest are available on-line and the deadline is July 1 st . The banquet will be Friday August 12 th and the riding portion of the contest will be September 21 st .
Rulebook : Cindy Ladd Rule books will be available for the Delegates at the General Meeting .
Safety Committee : Corey Swartout Absent . Nothing to report .
Scholarship : Julie Gintner The applications must be postmarked by May 2 nd . The forms are in the Spotlight and on the website . Encourage new graduates and those further their education to apply for a scholarship .
Spotlight : James Duenow Reviewing the proof of the new website and fixing the club locator . Advertising is up 35 % and the costs are down 65 % -70 %. Things are moving in the right direction and reducing costs . The goal is to cash flow and getting it to be a great conductor of information . Of the pool of people that are getting the Spotlight a greater percentage of the opens is increasing . The visibility of the Spotlight is up 1500 %, as the monthly opens are 3,500 and previously the Spotlight only went to 275 people . Showbills are getting put back in the Spotlight . We are helping our clubs as a full page is the same cost as a ΒΌ page .
Old Business : none New Business : We need to look into ordering the High Point awards for Champ Show . Leslie will bring information to the next Board Meeting . Adjournment :
