Message from the
Park Board President
2
Dear friends and neighbors,
The Glenview Park Board maintains a
tradition of electing new park board
presidents with the start of each fiscal
year. On May 1, the park district entered a
new fiscal year and I have been given the
opportunity to serve you as the park board
president for this upcoming year. I’ve been
a park board member for 17 years now, and
this will be the fourth time I will have the
pleasure of serving as your board president.
In the past 17 years, I’ve seen a lot. The
park board has faced many challenges
and celebrated many accomplishments.
Nothing compares with the challenges and
accomplishments we continue to experience
as we traverse this global pandemic together.
It’s July, and we are now in Phase 4 of
the Restore Illinois plan! Our camps are
underway, Flick Aquatic Center is open,
Park Center Health and Fitness is open, and
more great programs and opportunities are
on the horizon for this month, as you’ll see
throughout this guide.
Over the past month, park district staff have
been working hard to develop plans for
opening our facilities and amenities safely
and to resume programming. As health
guidelines continue to evolve, staff are often
forced to throw out old plans and develop
entirely new ones to meet the strictest health
guidelines released.
Your health is always our first priority. We
are so excited to be opening new areas and
offering new programming every week, and
are making sure we do so in the safest way
possible. To see all of our safety guidelines
and ongoing COVID-related updates, please
visit our website.
While these are challenging times, I am
so inspired by our community members.
Glenview residents have really committed
to keeping our community safe. Thank you
for everything you’re doing to protect our
public health – it’s working! The number of
cases and hospitalizations in our region and
in Glenview continue to decrease each week.
Thank you for your patience as we navigate
each phase in the Restore Illinois plan
together.
Many things are different now, but we are
looking forward to one thing being the same
this summer: our community will come
together to celebrate the 4th of July! While
many communities have cancelled their
Independence Day celebrations, our 4th
of July Committee, park district staff and
village staff worked together to find creative
new ways for us to celebrate together,
safely. Saturday morning we will be visiting
