The Fiber Art Studio of Dubuque Ongoing until October 27 The Fiber Art Studio of Dubuque design and create original artistic works . The groups ’ mission is to expand their creative knowledge with exposure to new techniques and materials . For the past ten years this group , also known as FAS , has been meeting monthly from January through October . Each month a member artist presents a program which is either a demonstration of techniques or the program is a hands-on experience . There will be 13 exhibitors in this free show . Half a Century of Art Ongoing until October 27 KC Barnes uses bold , vibrant color to transform a landscape into a glowing vision . Her paintings are conceptual , abstracted images of reality . KC studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Northern Illinois University . She has concentrated on impressionistic landscapes for over 50 years . Janice Bell Exhibit October 30-December 31 Janice ’ s paintings are inspired by her love of all God ’ s creations . She is captivated by the abundance of objects and life found there and by the vast assortment of colors , textures and curiosities . Hiking the woodlands of Iowa , gardening , and paddling lakes and rivers have provided her with wonderful subject matter . River Sojourn November 3-January 3 , 2017 In 2012 , Sara Lubinski began a multiyear sojourn into the Upper Mississippi Blufflands , hiking goat prairies , following cold water creeks , taking in Mississippi River bluff top views . With charcoal , pencil , and homemade walnut ink , she drew what she saw . She returned to her Brownsville , MN studio to paint from the field drawings and numerous sketches . Jerry Barlow , Celtic Finger Style Guitarist November 6 @ 2 PM Acclaimed Celtic finger style guitarist Jerry Barlow is a virtuoso musician , a warm and accessible performer , and a world-class storyteller . His repertoire is composed of a synthesis of traditional music from the
British Isles and his own original Celticinspired compositions .
Doodle Group Third Thursday every month @ 1 PM Come “ zen ” and doodle . Open Studio Fourth Thursday every month @ 1-4 PM Bring any art project to work on during this four-hour time period . MAE can provide easels , computers , and drop cloths . Just bring your other materials and project ( s ). This service is free . MISSISSIPPI RIVER ARTS WORKSHOPS ( MRAW )
Mississippi River Arts Workshops was organized in late 2014 by a group of Dubuque-area artists and arts supporters whose goal is to create art experiences for artists that explore and capitalize on natural and man-created beauty . In the coming year , MRAW will hold two week-long workshops and one plien air painting event . Dates for 2017 are TBA . The mission of Outside the Lines Art Gallery is to offer high quality , handmade items at affordable prices . Located at 409 Bluff St . in Cable Car Square , Dubuque , the gallery features original creations from over 85 US artists , many of whom are from Dubuque and the tri-state area . Owners Connie Twining and Stormy Mochal know the artists personally , which enables them to accurately describe the processes and products .
