Celebrate the Holidays A Christmas Story By Philip Grecian, based on the motion picture A Christmas Story. Humorist Jean Shepherd’s memoir of growing up in the midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun. All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here, including the family’s temperamental exploding furnace. This month features author Kurt Wagner, who wrote the newly released The Mouse Who Stirred at Christmas. Kurt and his wife Tina will explain how the book came about, a bit about the process of writing a children’s book, and even read excerpts for the young (and young at heart) in the room. Northeast Iowa School of Music’s students will perform five hours of free music at “A Roshek Christmas” in the lobby of the Roshek Building.
