Try this:
If you don’t have a particular person in mind to ask out, but
you’re actively looking, ask your friends what interesting
friends of theirs you should meet.
Note how you’re not outright asking for matchmaking
services. Why?
Because many people aren’t good matchmakers, especially
off the top of their head.
Because people don’t like being put on the spot … and the
paradox of choice suggests that if someone has to pick ONE
person out of everyone they know, they’ll feel paralyzed and
won’t make ANY choice.
So instead say:
“Hey, I’m looking to make new friends, and you know
interesting people. Who do you know that is super cool that I
should meet?”
