Down on the bayou 2019 Summer Reading Program
Cabarrus County’s Travel Club made its way
down the bayou for a visit to New Orleans in
April. The trip included breakfast at Café Du
Monde, a night out on Bourbon Street, a walking
tour of historic New Orleans and an air boat tour
through the swamps. There were also ferry rides
along the Mississippi River and Uber rides across
town—a first for some. “A Universe of Stories” will unfold with the
Cabarrus County Public Library System’s annual
Summer Reading
Program (SRP).
The 2019 theme
celebrates the 50th
anniversary of the
Apollo 11 moon
landing.
Cabarrus County’s Travel Club offers single-
and multi-day experiences to local, regional
and cross-country destinations. The experiences
are reasonably priced and feature professional
transportation, planned activities and the added
safety of traveling in a group. To learn more, call
704-920-3484.
The SRP blasts
off June 14 and
continues through
August 17, with
events and prizes
for all ages that
include gift card raffles, tote bags, books, fine
waivers and more.
SRP groups participants by age and encourages
participation in programs that connect them to
lifelong learning, creativity and exploration.
Event calendars and reading logs are available
online http://bit.ly/cabco247library or at any
