Pennies
for
Peace
Some people think a penny isn’t worth
much. There’s not much a penny can buy,
right?
But what if you gathered a hundred pen-
nies? A thousand? A million? Ten million?
That’s the idea behind Pennies for Peace
(P4P). It’s a simple yet significant way to
help others. By thinking small, you can make
a big difference in someone else’s life, some-
one who truly needs it.
Girls who live in remote regions of
Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan often
don’t have the chance to attend school, even
though that’s their biggest dream, because
their communities don’t have the resourc-
es required. But thanks to P4P, your small
change can make huge change in the world.
With P4P, we can:
• Provide school supplies
• Support teachers
• Build classrooms
• Promote education
No matter how old you are or how much
money you have, you can create positive
change. And it’s never too little—or too late
—to start.
Read these stories and see the wonderful
things that people and pennies can do.
I’DALIS JENKINS
9 years old
I’dalis is only in third grade, but she has
a huge heart. When her class decided to
participate in P4P, she loved the idea of
helping “people from all around
the world that need it most.” She
knew the money collected would
help buy school supplies, support
teachers, and maybe even build
a new classroom.
Her class jumped right into
their project, making posters and
signs to display throughout the
school. Then they made it even
more exciting by turning it into
a competition, seeing which class
could make the most money.
While I’dalis was excited about
the money they raised, she felt the

best part of P4P was the connection it creat-
ed between her and her schoolmates, as well
as the children halfway around the world
she was helping. “It lets kids know we want
to help them,” she observes.
Anyone who thinks young children don’t
understand the joy of giving hasn’t met
I’dalis. According to her, “Once you start
donating, it makes you feel great about
yourself, and the kids you donate to get
a lifetime dream.” What a beautiful testa-
ment to the power each person has, at any
age, to help change someone else’s life for
the better.
ANINDITA CHETIA
13 years old
“Getting a chance at an education is
something everyone should have,” declares
Anindita, a 13-year-old eighth grader from
Saudi Arabia. “If there is someone, just
like me, but has never gotten the chance to
learn, that person will never see all the in-
credible things he or she could do.”
Along with her fellow students, Anindita
took her energy and compassion to help
others and embraced the P4P project as the
perfect way to spread hope. Not only did
Anindita love the mission, she also loved the
process. She and her classmates had lots of
fun planning the project, which they called,
“Halalas for Hope.” They created beautiful
