daughters to school where the process begins again.
Taking the first step, planting that first seed, will lead to infinitely more steps and infinitely more ideas that affect hundreds of thousands of people. This is how CAI has grown. The power of one idea to do something no one else has accomplished creates a ripple effect.
THE POWER OF ONE LIVES WITHIN US ALL
People have the power within themselves to take the first step, to set an initial intention for change, and to make a difference. Tapping into that power can feel strange or daunting, but it doesn’ t take much. It begins with signing a petition, sharing an article, or donating that first dollar.
Tapping into the power of one means looking beyond the daily disaster headlines and seeing the individual people.“ If you just read the headlines, you might forget about that one little girl. Once you see the individual behind the headline, you see there is a solution,” says Greg.
The cost of a new school or program might be out of reach for one person, but donating a small amount might purchase a window, a roof shingle, a desk, or even a single brick. All of these materials are necessary, and no one dollar is more significant than another. They all come together to bring the dream of education to a girl who will change the world.
“ When one person opens their heart and gives, they sow the seeds of that individual power. They create hope and the potential for someone in Afghanistan or Pakistan or Tajikistan to tap into their own power,” says Greg.
TOGETHER WE CREATE THE POWER TO RISE
In Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan women and girls are tapping into their own individual power. Through education they are discovering the impact they can create in their villages, their countries, and the whole world.
For more than 20 years, CAI supporters around the world have tapped into their own power to create the opportunity for these women to learn to read, to stand up for their rights, and to rise above incredible hardship.
Greg has witnessed the power one person can possess to create change again and again.“ When people give, whether it’ s time, money, or talent, they sow the seeds of that individual power. They are creating hope and creating the potential for one more person to rise.” •
