The case for CAS?

For the 6th consecutive year, students have decided to support the ‘Restos Du Coeur’ foundation. The purpose of this organization is to provide meals for the homeless and disadvantaged during winter.

Year 13 students held a Quiz Night on the 10th of October 2013, all the money raised was donated to ‘Un Maillot Pour La Vie’. This is a French charity for children in hospitals; the money donated is used to buy equipment.

A group of Year 12 students organized a Halloween themed day where students of all ages dressed up in all sort of extravagant costumes. A bake sale took place where students brought in delicious cupcakes, cookies, cakes, and many more delights. A total of 380€ was raised for UNICEF.

Last term, Year 13 went to ‘le Château d’Argy’ near Châteauroux, they participated in a series of different activities including: painting, cleaning, gardening, cladding. They brought their enthusiasm and energy with them in hopes to renovate this historical monument.

Every fortnight, groups of IB students visit ‘La Maison de Retraite’ where they play games and engage in conversation with the elderly.

Students were given the opportunity to become Young Ambassadors of UNICEF. With this title, students are encouraged to raise awareness in the community.

Year 13 students collected a total of 150 euros at the School Christmas Fair where they sold merchandise and Christmas Cards designed by our very own IST students. The school welcomed over 700 people at our annual ‘Friends Christmas Fair’, where numerous IB students volunteered to supervise stalls and games including: sumo wrestling, raffles, and book and food sales.

Towards the end of the term, a small group of Year 12 girls organized candy cane dedications in which money (110€) was donated to UNICEF to support children made parent-less in the Philippines.

The IB Choir sang ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’ at the Christmas Concert which took place on the final week of term where they brought joy to the community.

We are looking forward to yet another term filled with lots of exciting activities organized by our IB students. Make sure you contribute and help as much as possible!

As a result of their CAS experience, there should be evidence that IB students have:

• Increased their awareness of their own strengths and areas for growth

• Undertaken new challenges

• Planned and initiated activities

• Worked collaboratively with others

• Shown perseverance and commitment in their activities

• Engaged with issues of global importance

• Considered the ethical implications of their actions

• Developed new skills
