The Junior Researcher Programme
Teacher showing how to ensure reliability in using AI for research
Students showing the notes of their unpacking of their research question
Student conducting research using Perplexity and making notes
Students crafting questionnaire for data collection
The Junior Researcher Programme nurtures curiosity, independence and critical thinking among Year 1 and Year 2 students. Beyond gathering and analysing information, students discover the joy of inquiry and the value of evidence-based learning.
This year, students explored how AI-assisted tools like Perplexity can support ethical research. During a two-day workshop, they learned to craft meaningful research questions, verify AI-generated responses using the CRAAP framework; evaluating Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy and Purpose and assess the credibility of sources through authorship and supporting evidence.
