Chapter 1 SJI Community

We must remember that achievements do not happen by chance. They are made possible by the people who surround our students with encouragement and care.
To our Parents: Thank you for your trust, partnership and unwavering support. To our Teachers and Staff: Our deep gratitude and appreciation goes out to you for your dedication, professionalism and the daily acts of love and patience that shape lives far beyond the classroom. To our Alumni: Your legacy continues to inspire; your footsteps guide those who follow. To our Board of Governors: Thank you for your steadfast support in positioning SJI to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
We are mindful of the global landscape in which our students are growing up – a world shaped by geopolitical tensions, climate change, rapid technological disruptions and increasing social fragmentation. Our youths will inherit a future that demands agility, empathy, critical thinking and the courage to bridge divides. As educators, parents and mentors, we share a collective responsibility to prepare them not just for work, but for life – forming creators, connectors and contributors who navigate complexity with clarity and purpose.
This is why at SJI, we emphasise the process of learning, not merely the outcomes. We want Josephians to be curious and courageous, adaptable and resilient, reflective and open-hearted people who value diverse perspectives, find joy in learning and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. It is in facing obstacles that the indomitable Josephian spirit shines through, echoing the rally call in our school song:“ Onward and upward in life’ s earnest battle, joyously bearing the brunt of the fight.”
As we commemorate the 173rd anniversary of our school’ s founding and close our Jubilee Year as Pilgrims of Hope, we honour the legacy of those who came before us; the founders, Brothers, teachers and generations of Josephians who built the foundations upon which we stand. Their courage calls us to journey forward with that same spirit: hopeful, determined and united.
As we turn the pages of this annual, may we celebrate not only the milestones achieved, but also the hearts shaped, the friendships forged and the lives transformed. May we remember that every Josephian – past, present and future – plays a part in shaping the story and legacy of our school.
Let us continue walking forward together, grounded in faith, strengthened by community and committed to serving the greater good. May we celebrate our growth and may we continue shaping possibilities together.
