Inaugural Assembly
The Inaugural Assembly at SJI is a cherished tradition marking the start of the new academic year and the first formal gathering of the Josephian community in a spirit of thanksgiving. After a month of orientation, the school officially welcomed the newest members of the community; Year 1 and Year 5 students as well as new teaching and non-teaching staff.
Affirming the school’ s Lasallian identity, the assembly opened with a Eucharistic celebration led by Friar Michael D’ Cruz, OFM, during which he blessed the school flag and colours, enduring symbols that have guided generations of Josephians. The celebration was further enriched by the SJI Vocal Ensemble, the SJI Band and a short Drama Club skit highlighting key 21st-century competencies such as curiosity, adaptability creativity and resilience.
In his Address, Principal Mr Justin Arul Pierre outlined the school’ s 2025 priorities: Nurturing adaptive and inventive thinking and civic, global and cross-cultural literacy. He introduced the year’ s theme,“ Celebrating Growth and Shaping Possibilities Together”, urging Josephians to face rapid change with courage, responsible risktaking and innovation. He concluded by reaffirming the enduring importance of SJI’ s Lasallian mission and its values-based, human-centred education.
