Chapter 3 Diary of Events
National Celebrations
The school’ s celebration of Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Hari Raya reflects a strong dedication to cultural and religious inclusion. Each festival is welcomed with enthusiasm, turning the school into a vibrant space where students and teachers learn about one another’ s traditions. By highlighting the significance of these celebrations, the school nurtures respect, understanding and unity among all Josephians.
During Chinese New Year, students enjoy activities such as lantern-making, calligraphy and learning about traditional customs. Deepavali brings colourful rangoli designs, cultural performances and lessons
about the festival of lights. When Hari Raya arrives, the school is filled with traditional music, decorations, and opportunities to learn about the values of forgiveness and togetherness. These celebrations allow everyone to participate meaningfully, regardless of their cultural background. Through these shared experiences, students not only appreciate the richness of each festival but also gain a deeper understanding of the values that unite different cultures.
The school’ s commitment to celebrating these occasions fosters an environment where diversity is cherished and every student feels included.
