Kenan Tan Kee Zen exemplifies resilience and commitment as a studentathlete, balancing academics with elite sailing competitions while demonstrating character, humility and discipline. With over a decade of sailing experience, Kenan has achieved remarkable national and international success since December 2023. He made history as the first Singaporean to win a bronze medal at the ILCA Europa Cup in Malta, setting the tone for a stellar 2024 season.
That year, he won multiple championships, including the Changi Sailing Club Championships, Thai Nationals, Singapore National Sailing Regatta, Eastern Seaboard and ILCA District Championships and placed second at the National School Games. Internationally, he performed strongly at the Shanghai Open and Kiel Regatta.
In 2025, Kenan transitioned smoothly to ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 fleets, winning several major regattas and becoming the overall champion at the National Youth Sailing Championships. He also placed second at the Langkawi Regatta and was crowned Asian Open Champion in the ILCA 6 class.
As skipper of SJI Sailing, Kenan inspires teammates with his leadership, focus and sportsmanship. He has qualified to represent Singapore at the Youth Sailing World Championships in Portugal, highlighting his dedication and excellence. Kenan is honoured as the SJIOBA Sportsperson of the IB Graduating Class of 2025.
