Sim Yan Zhao Daniel demonstrated exceptional leadership and organisational skills as Overall-in-Charge of the IB Open House 2025, coordinating committees, teachers and volunteers to create an inclusive event that reflected SJI’ s values.
As Stalls Committee In-Charge for Mahalo Carnival 2024, he played a vital role in planning and managing over 20 booths, successfully raising more than $ 20,000 for the Migrant Workers Centre.
Daniel’ s leadership extended to the Lasallian Leadership Training Camp, where he facilitated reflective sessions promoting self-awareness and servant leadership, reinforcing core Lasallian principles among participants.
He also mentored new Year 5 students as an Orientation Group Leader and contributed to the school’ s heritage trail through thoughtful scriptwriting, fostering community identity and belonging.
Beyond school, Daniel engaged globally through CURA 2024, an international program focused on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, demonstrating his commitment to addressing global challenges collaboratively.
Through his strategic vision, mentorship and service, Daniel has inspired and united the SJI community, embodying the Lasallian values of Faith, Service and Community and leaving a lasting impact worthy of the Lasallian Distinguished Service Award.
Zachary Howe Rui Jie( FN601)
Lasallian Distinguished Service Award
Zachary Howe Rui Jie is a dynamic leader known for his empathy, resilience and vision, leaving a lasting impact on the school community. As President of Beacon CAS, he led with a servant-leadership mindset, organising initiatives that enriched both SJI and the wider public. He spearheaded Concert Agape 2024, a collaborative charity concert involving multiple schools, strengthening community bonds and raising funds for charity. Zachary also mentored younger leaders during the executive committee selection and co-led the Carwash – Splash for Impact fundraiser supporting migrant workers.
Known for his initiative and strategic foresight, Zachary encouraged teamwork through effective communication and openness. His reflective leadership was evident in his evaluation of Concert Agape to improve future projects.
In sports, Zachary showed versatility and determination, helping the tennis team achieve a top-four finish in the 2024 National School Games and contributing to the Dragon Boat team’ s impressive second-place in 2025, demonstrating adaptability and perseverance.
His global perspective was deepened through the Global Education Programme in Vietnam, where encounters with disadvantaged communities enhanced his compassion. Zachary embodies the Lasallian values of Faith, Service and Community.
