Reading the Classics for Inspiration
Literary Society
The SJI Literary Society completed a comprehensive, year-long training program focused on developing exceptional writing skills among its members. The intensive curriculum explored a wide variety of literary forms, including narrative short fiction, personal essays, poetry and creative non-fiction. Members participated in regular, rigorous workshops and critique sessions, learning practical techniques and refining their individual voices under the guidance of mentors.
The culmination of this dedicated effort was the production of the Society’ s annual literary anthology. This professionally published book serves as a vital capstone project, showcasing the year’ s strongest creative work and celebrating the members’ hard work. Managing the process— from the initial call for submissions to meticulous editing and final layout— provided all participants with invaluable, hands-on experience in the essential elements of literary production and publishing.
