SJI Bagpipes & Drums

The SJI Bagpipes & Drums had a memorable and fulfilling year in 2024 , marked by outstanding achievements and performances that highlighted their dedication , talent , and commitment to both music and tradition . One of the band ’ s most notable accomplishments was their participation in the Singapore Pipe Band Championship 2024 , where they won First Place in the Juvenile Band category and also clinched several individual awards in the solo categories . This success reinforced their reputation as a top-tier pipe band in Singapore and served as a testament to the hard work and discipline of each member .
In addition to competitions , the SJI Bagpipes & Drums showcased their artistic flair at various school events , such as Arts Alive and the Mutien Festival , where they captivated audiences with their performances . A highlight of this year ’ s Mutien Festival was the band ’ s innovative inclusion of a keyboard , played by one of the members , which expanded their repertoire and added a new dynamic to their sound . The band ’ s performances were wellreceived , further solidifying their place as an integral part of the school ’ s artistic community .
The band also played a key role in several official school functions , including the Inaugural Assembly and Founder ’ s Day , where they led the ceremonial march-in of the school flag and colours . Their presence at the Annual Parade added a sense of grandeur and tradition , elevating the experience for all participants and spectators .
Honouring their Scottish roots , the band proudly participated in the annual St . Patrick ’ s Parade , marching through the city alongside other pipe bands from Singapore . Additionally , they lent their musical talents to the Lasallian Dinner at One Farrer Hotel , further representing the school in the broader community .
Through these various performances and events , the band continued to exemplify musical excellence , school spirit , and the enduring tradition of Scottish pipe music .
