Judo
Filled with spirit and determination , our Josephian judokas went into the National School Games ( NSG ) Judo Championships with the skills of hard training under their belts . Each judoka fought hard , carrying the SJI crest on their white gis . The B-Division team performed their best , showcasing years of experience . After three days of bouts , Win Win Kyaw ’ s ( LE403 ) tenacity and prowess clinched him a silver medal in the U91kg weight category , putting SJI at 5th in the overall rankings for the Y4s ’ stunning final NSG B-Division Judo Championships . Cody Tan ( LE402 ) and Ryan Saw ( LE401 ) both clinched 7th placing in their respective weight categories .
Not long after , the C-Division judokas entered NSG Judo Championships , ready to prove themselves with many Y1s ’ competing in their first ever NSG Judo Championships . Having fought their best , the team made us proud with their results . Kenston Kok ( MN202 ) clinched a well-deserved bronze medal in the U66kg weight category . Ethan Sim ( ML202 ) and Azreal Anderson Lee ( FN202 ) both clinched 5th placing in their respective weight categories , while Imran Hazrin-Tan ( FN202 ), Jay Jonas Mok ( MN201 ) and Hu Chengrui ( FN101 ) clinched the 7th placing in their weight categories .
Upholding the CCA ’ s commitment to serving the community , the judokas initiated a Values in Action ( VIA ) project . The judokas , in collaboration with Table Tennis CCA , organised a food donation drive for “ Food From The Heart ”. This project garnered the collective support of SJI students to donate a substantial amount of food items in an effort to give to families and those in need .
Each judoka contributed as an ambassador to encourage their classes and in leading by example by contributing to the food items . Through this programme , the judokas , with the SJI community , learnt to serve those in need by organising and running a donation drive .
