Basketball

The SJI Basketball team competed in both C- and B-Divisions for the National School Games ( NSG ) this year . Under the new competition format , the C-Division team displayed an impressive performance this year . First , by being seeded into the Nationals 2nd Division and second , by narrowly missing out on qualifying for the semi-finals .
Although the B-Division team was eliminated in the preliminary round , the boys put up a valiant fight and wore the school ’ s colours with pride .
Apart from the NSG competitions , the SJI basketball team continues to organise its annual basketball invitational tournament , hosting other prominent schools such as Raffles , Hwa Chong and Maris Stella . The team has also participated in other invitational tournaments such as the Junyuan Tournament with the objective of providing athletes with the necessary experience and strengthening the team .
Aside from inter-school competitions , many athletes from the basketball team competed externally in the various 3x3 cups and 5v5 tournaments such as the Rigorer Youth Cup and the Singapore Premier Basketball League held throughout the year .
Through these tournaments , our SJI athletes have left a positive impression and forged a strong reputation for themselves within the basketball community , bolstering the school ’ s image . Notably , Josephians Elijah Chow Jen Xun ( LE102 ) and Jude Matthew Ng Zhong Rui ( LE101 ) participated in various external competitions and camps , showcasing their passion and dedication to the sport .
Working closely together with our coach and teachers , our athletes strive to excel in the sport and achieve only the best , hoping to continue to bring glory to SJI .
