ANNIVERSARY PARADE
DIARY OF EVENTS
This year marks the 32nd Anniversary of the annual parade series for the SJI Uniformed Groups ( UG ) family .
The Anniversary Parade showcases the school ’ s UG cadets and acknowledges the achievements for the year of the SJI Uniformed Groups . This event is also a platform for many old boys of the UGs to meet up with one another and their UG teachers , exchange contacts as well as reminisce about their days in the UG .
This year ’ s parade had to be adjourned indoors to the Founders ’ Hall due to inclement weather . Nevertheless , the pomp and pageantry of a parade was still felt by all present as the sounds of the SJI bagpipes and drums began the evening ’ s programme .
Groups . He also presented Long Service Awards to teachers and Adult Volunteer Leaders . This year , Mr Lim Meng Chye , Assistant Superintendent of the SJI St John Brigade ( SJB ) was recognised for his 30 years of dedicated service and contributions to the Uniformed Group .
During the parade , SJI Principal Mr Justin Arul Pierre presided over the Change-of-Command ceremony when the highest ranking Year 4 cadet in each UG , handed over his symbol of office , to the designated Year 3 cadet .
The parade ended with the retreat of the Year 4 cadet ICs in slow march to the sound of Auld Lang Syne , a befitting closure to their term of office .
We were honoured to have COL Alvin Tjioe , Commander PERSCOM , Singapore Armed Forces , to be our reviewing officer this year . COL Alvin ( Class of 1997 ) presented awards to recognise the outstanding cadets from the 5 Uniformed
