Wesley Thng is an academically strong student . All his teachers praised him for his intellectual ability and his self-directedness in learning . He is independent , but at the same time , he is able to work in a team effectively .
Wesley ’ s Economics teacher said that he is one of the most diligent and motivated students who is enthusiastic about learning . He can be seen actively participating in classroom activities and discussions . His Chemistry teacher commended his work , which is often of the highest quality and exceeds expectations . His Extended Essay supervisor was impressed with his initiative to research extensively on his topic and he was always prepared for consultations .
Wesley is a really mature student who is an example for others . His form teacher , Mr Kenny Teoh , stated that he was impressed by Wesley ’ s humility , his responsibility for his own learning and his positive learning attitude . There is so much potential in this impressive young man .
Wesley was part of the School Student Council from 2023-2024 . In his role as Committee Head , Wesley has honed his leadership skills and decisionmaking ability . He learnt to delegate his workload , manage peers , and chair meeting sessions to manage several school projects such as Racial Harmony Day Commemoration , Prom and Graduation Night , Open House and Orientation Camp . He also volunteered in a community vaccination drive in a housing estate . Being part of the SJI Student Council is something close to his heart . To him , this is a service to the school that he loves . And it is through this love for his school that he is able to overcome the stress , tiredness , and conflicts encountered while serving as the Committee Head . All in all , he is a responsible leader and can be trusted to complete any task given to him .
In conclusion , Wesley is a driven and motivated person . Despite the stress of managing multiple deadlines , he juggled them very well . He has excellent time-management and discipline . He took pride in his work and has a positive attitude . Wesley takes ownership of his life ’ s journey and is determined to do well .
Wesley has led a well-balanced IB life in SJI where he has done well academically , showcased his leadership ability , served others sincerely and built strong friendships . His commitment in all these areas is impressive and commendable .
Rico Wong is a highly responsible , diligent , and hard-working student with a humble and positive attitude towards learning . What is most impressive about him is his inner resilience . He manages his time well and possesses strong management qualities . Acknowledging that there is always room for improvement , he actively seeks guidance and incorporates constructive feedback into his approach . This openness to advice not only demonstrates his maturity as a learner but also facilitates a positive and collaborative relationship with teachers and peers .
Rico ’ s resilience and time-management skills were evident in his CAS leadership roles , where he effectively balanced his academic demands with extracurricular responsibilities . As the Vice-President of the Beacon Club , he focused on ideating and planning new events such as the school-wide Concert Agape and Bake Sale , to promote collaboration and community spirit in school and to provide opportunities in service learning . This helped him grow into a resilient , reflective , and peoplecentred leader .
Rico ’ s other extracurricular accomplishments include leading a team of students in a research project on the energy content of various chips that was presented at the virtual Global Scientist Award conference organised by the Ikeda High School in Kagoshima , Japan . Rico demonstrates strong commitment to fitness in daily gym training sessions . This was showcased when he competed in the National Sports Games with his Dragon Boat team . Rico explored entrepreneurship at national business competitions as part of the Prism Club , giving back to the school community as a servant leader during Orientation Camp .
Another memorable experience for Rico was his Global Education Programme trip to Lasalle Bamboo School in Bangkok , Thailand . Through interactions with a local community in Bangkok , Rico learnt about the value and importance of communication and interpersonal connections and helped him to reflect on this experience , which in turn contributed to shaping his outlook on life and reinforced his commitment to making a positive impact wherever he goes .
Rico ’ s academic journey was characterised by his exceptional diligence , critical thinking skills , and commitment to learning . His ability to connect classroom learning with real-world issues , coupled with his resilience and proactive approach , positions him as a standout student poised for continued success in his academic and personal endeavours .
