Pang Kuan Jeng is a remarkable individual whose dedication and leadership consistently sets him apart . His proactive approach and unwavering commitment to excellence are truly commendable .
As a disciplined student with strong work ethics , he remains calm under pressure , organised , and responsible . He displays emotional maturity and is well respected by his peers for his empathy and consideration . His academic journey is marked by a motivated approach to learning , consistently completing tasks to a high standard . His excellent comprehension skills , clarity in expressing thoughts , and willingness to reflect on feedback position him for continued success in his academic endeavours .
Deeply committed to the school ’ s service culture , Kuan Jeng has made significant contributions to both the SJI community and external organisations . As the Corps Sergeant Major of SJI St John Brigade ( 2021-2022 ), his leadership shone through . He successfully led the 2022 Muster Parade , involving all Uniformed Groups in SJI , and played a key role in training the competition team , which earned second runner-up in the National First Aid Competition . His strategic vision was evident in organising SJI ’ s 170th Annual Parade and launching a School-Based VIA project focused on plastic recycling . He also planned a 2-Day Training Camp and instructed a District Leadership Course during a 4-day camp .
As a Staff Officer with St John Brigade Singapore , Kuan Jeng continues to excel . Serving as Corps Liaison Officer for SJI Corps , he facilitated communication between the School and District , overseeing cadet activities . His leadership contributed to winning first place in the District First Aid Competition , securing a spot in the National Competition . His impact extends as a Staff Officer for Community Engagement at the North District ( HQ level ), where his efforts in social media promotion and organising community outreach projects have been significant . Leading Project IGNITE , he mentored 54 cadets and facilitated activities for elderly residents .
Kuan Jeng has also demonstrated his commitment to public service by leading cadets in providing first aid at major events , including the National Day Parade , Formula One Grand Prix , and Chingay Parade . As a Life Support Instructor , his dedication to community service is evident . Additionally , he served on the organising team for the 2023 Lasallian Leadership Training Camp ( LLTC ) and later as a mentor for LLTC 2024 , guiding juniors in planning and executing the event .
Kuan Jeng ’ s meticulous approach to safety and compassionate care earned him respect from peers and mentors alike .
Sumugan Kapilan is a standout individual whose time at SJI has been marked by an exceptional blend of diligence , responsibility , charisma , and leadership . His unwavering commitment to excellence and natural ability to lead have left a significant mark on our school community .
Sumugan ’ s passion for the pursuit of knowledge is evident in his positive attitude towards learning and his continual efforts to hone his skills and improve himself . This dedication translates into his consistently highquality work and his impressive academic achievements . Witty and charismatic , Sumugan is a natural leader . He genuinely cares for people and is well-liked by both peers and teachers . He leads by example and is a principled person who remains unfazed by peer pressure , standing firm in his beliefs .
Academically , Sumugan has an inquisitive mind and is unafraid to question the status quo . He has consistently demonstrated a profound aptitude , particularly in Tamil . His achieved fourth place in the Tamil Annamalai University Alumni Research Essay Writing Competition ( 2022 ) and second place in 2023 . His notable fifth place in the Tamil Writers Association ‘ Kambar ’ Festival Competition further highlights his talent amidst intense competition . Sumugan is equally equipped in creative problem solving . His success in the Singapore International STEM Innovation Challenge 2023 , where he won the Best Engineering Award and Promising Sustainability Award , underscores his versatility and drive for excellence .
Sumugan is a servant leader who gives himself selflessly for others . As a Senior Student Council member , Sumugan was an EXCO member of CURA 2023 , which is an International Student Forum on Sustainability , the 2024 Council Camp as well as part of the planning committee for Prom 2023 , Teachers ’ Day 2023 , Open House 2024 and Orientation Camp 2024 . His role as President of the Indian Cultural Society Senior Division and contributions to the Film Club and Science Club reflect his diverse interests and leadership capabilities .
As one of the leaders for Josephian Service Day , he led efforts to connect students with the community through service at NTUC elderly homes . He also created meaningful experiences for his peers at the Concert Under the Stars and the Indian Cultural Society Camp . Beyond school , Sumugan is in the Youth Wing Executive of the Singapore Association of Tamil Writers and the Singapore Ceylon Tamil Association and a member of the Shruthy Matha Laya Pitha Academy .
