Lasallian Distinguished Service Award
Thirrushan is a person of integrity with a deep sense of faith , service , and community . He is hardworking and determined , always striving to improve the lives of those around him . Courteous and well-mannered , he displays an impressive level of maturity and reflection .
Thirrushan ’ s passion for learning is evident in his proactive approach to seeking knowledge , often clarifying doubts with teachers and peers . His thirst for knowledge drives his personal growth , and his resilience and commitment are demonstrated in the time and effort he dedicates to his academic goals . His positive attitude shines through in his participation in various courses and competitions . He took part in the Queen ' s Commonwealth Essay Competition , receiving a certificate of participation . He also represented SJI at the RI Youth Mental Wellbeing Challenge , where his team placed 2nd , and earned a participation certificate in The Straits Times ' Future Forecast Competition .
As the Deputy Head Prefect ( 2023-2024 ), Thirrushan acted as a peacekeeper , maintaining a harmonious school environment with fairness and impartiality . He also served as the sole IC for the GRAIN seminar , an inter-school leadership seminar , and was a Peer Support Facilitator for the ACE camp from 2023- 2024 , leading his class and ensuring a positive experience for all . Outside of council duties , he contributed to the media organising committee for the 2024 SJI Carnival . As class chairperson ( 2022-2023 ), Thirrushan mediated conflicts among classmates , helping to resolve issues amicably .
Thirrushan demonstrated ambition and perseverance in his Co-Curricular Activity ( CCA ), Drama Club . He represented SJI in the 2023 SYF Arts Presentation , receiving a certificate of Accomplishment . He also acted in Starstruck : The Musical , a student-led production , further expanding his experience in drama . Beyond CCA involvement , he helped organise the visit from Wah Yan College , Hong Kong , and facilitated conversations with their students . He also participated in the Y . LEAD Seminar at River Valley High School , a significant leadership opportunity as Deputy Head Prefect .
In his role as Deputy Head Prefect , Thirrushan contributed to several school events , including the Year 4 Graduation Assembly , Thanksgiving Assembly , and Founder ’ s Day . His concern for the wider community was evident through his participation in Values in Action ( VIA ) projects like the National Day Parade 2024 , organised by Heartware Network , where he assisted the public .
Thirrushan ’ s sense of responsibility , social awareness , and dedication to the Lasallian community are commendable . With his drive , commitment , and leadership , Thirrushan ’ s positive impact on his school community is undeniable , and he is well-prepared to continue making meaningful contributions in the future .
Putt Sawasmongkol is a shining example of a Josephian leader whose influence extends across multiple aspects of school life . Grounded in five core values — character , kindness , a growth mindset , discipline , and integrity — Putt has become a respected role model for his peers . His leadership is driven by honesty and empathy , which allows him to connect deeply with others and inspire positive change . Self-reflection is key to Putt ’ s personal development , helping him stay true to his values while fostering growth in both himself and those around him .
Putt ’ s warm and reliable nature , coupled with his authenticity , has earned him the admiration of his peers and teachers alike . As Vice-President of both the Vocal Ensemble and Green Club , he led with empathy , creating a sense of camaraderie and belonging . His leadership in the Vocal Ensemble helped the group secure a Certificate of Distinction at the 2023 Singapore Youth Festival ( SYF ), and he ensured that every member felt valued and appreciated .
In the larger SJI community , Putt played a significant role on the Prefectorial Board ’ s Executive Committee , organising key school events such as Prefect Camp , Teachers ’ Day , and Chinese New Year celebrations . He also contributed as Peer Support Leader and with the ACE Camp Executive Committee , where his focus was on motivating juniors to grow as leaders . Beyond school , Putt demonstrated his commitment to service through volunteer work with his local church , Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital , and the Heartware Network , always approaching these opportunities with compassion and a genuine desire to help others .
As the President of MOE Secondary Scholars Executive Committee in 2023 and 2024 , Putt led 11 student leaders in organising events that brought together over 200 students from across Singapore , fostering inclusivity and bridging cultural divides . He also led a team of 40 students and volunteers to organise the AY2024 Scholar Orientation for over 500 incoming scholars , showcasing his exceptional leadership and organisational skills .
One of Putt ’ s most impactful initiatives was the “ Bridging Worlds Through Football ” VIA program , which used football to address social isolation among migrant workers in Singapore , breaking down cultural barriers and fostering understanding . His research on the environmental impact of green solvents in the pharmaceutical industry , completed during a year-long attachment with NTU , culminated in a published paper . He received numerous accolades , including a Bronze Medal at the International Elementz Fair and a Platinum Award in the Nanyang Junior Science Research Program .
Putt ’ s embodiment of the Lasallian values of Faith , Service , and Community has left a lasting impact on SJI , inspiring his peers to lead with purpose and integrity .
