CCA & CAS
An encouraging turnout

BLOODay

TEACHER-IN-CHARGE
Ms Daisy Chia ( Teacher I / C )
In 2024 , BLOODay organised two blood donation drives , one on 27 March and another 11 September . The initiative focused on contributing to the community by addressing the critical need for blood . The March drive was held at the Founders ’ Hall , while the September drive was held at the Indoor Sports Hall Training Room . Both drives saw active participation from students , staff , alumni and parents .
The planning for the drives required close coordination among various committees . Teams were formed to manage manpower and publicity efforts , ensuring that both events ran smoothly . A particular focus was placed on encouraging students under 18 to obtain the necessary parental consent , and the leadership team worked with Red Cross Singapore to streamline the process , making the experience accessible and inclusive for all eligible donors .
In addition to the blood donation events , BLOODay served as a platform for student leaders to develop their organisational
and leadership skills . Regular meetings were held to address challenges and devise strategies for improving participation and donor retention . The team-building aspects of these efforts were essential in fostering collaboration and creating a supportive environment for both volunteers and donors .
The blood drives also provided a valuable opportunity to engage in service and give back to the community , reinforcing the importance of Values in Action . Through careful planning and execution , the BLOODay blood donation drives of 2024 made a significant impact , both in terms of the number of donations collected and the experience gained by students in leadership roles .
At every BLOODay , there will always be a number of people who are turned away for various reasons . It is hoped however that they will persevere in their efforts to donate blood or if they cannot , then spread this awareness of the importance of donating blood to others .
