Volleyball started its maiden year with a bang . The EXCO set up a Volleyball booth during the SJI Open House and CAS Fair , interacting with the visitors by giving them opportunities to try their hand at the sport . As a recreational CAS , Volleyball has allowed members to grow their passion for the sport in a fun , engaging , and stressless way .
Through the course of the year , Volleyball members participated in weekly training sessions . Even though most of them started with little to no experience with the sport , through the unwavering support and expertise from their coach , they quickly picked up the necessary techniques , such as setting , spiking , and blocking , building a solid foundation that would help them master the sport . The weekly training sessions also put a big emphasis on mastering volleyball matches . Members not only practised individual skills important to the sport , but also learnt how to effectively apply those skills in an actual game .
Members learnt that in volleyball matches , teamwork , communication , and team spirit are equally important in swaying the outcome of the match . Through effective communication , they are able to strategise easily , carrying out powerful plays while also boosting the team morale . Furthermore , at the end of the day , the nature of volleyball as a team sport has allowed members to bond and get to know each other better .
