Dragon Boat

Throughout 2024 , SJI Dragon Boat stood as a testament to Josephians ’ resilience and mental fortitude , where athletes dedicated their time and effort to both land and water training sessions . These rigorous practices nurtured camaraderie and discipline within the team , pushing the athletes to their limits while honing their physical abilities as a team .
On 24 May 2024 , the SJI Dragon Boat team competed against seasoned teams across the country in the National School Games ( NSG ) at Kallang , a tenacious yet rewarding season , representing the school in the A-Division Boys ’ and Girls ’ 200m categories . After months of demanding training , the races tested not only the physical strength and stamina of the rowers but also their ability to work under pressure . The Girls ’ Team earned a hard-fought Third and Fourth Runners ’ Up position , showcasing their dedication and teamwork . Though the Boys ’ Team gave their best effort , they did not secure a placement this year but left with valuable lessons that will fuel their future growth .

On 27 July , the Year 5 team entered the DB12 Singapore Youth Mixed category at the annual Pesta Sukan held at Kallang Reservoir . This competition brought fresh challenges , as the team faced off against seasoned opponents from all over the country . With steely focus and teamwork at the forefront , the athletes pushed through the fierce competition , demonstrating their unwavering spirit as they contended with the nation ’ s best .
Through each challenge and every triumph , the SJI Dragon Boat team continues to grow together , fostering the discipline and unity that strengthens both their sporting abilities and their Josephian character .
